Sushant Divgikar - Interview.

Yaaaayieeee!! I finally managed to interview the diva Sushant Divgikar in the heart of wee hours and he politely answered all the questions I have been waiting to ask him for a while now.

Turns out the youngest National Producer in pageant's history is a real sweetheart. The basic information about him is already available on the internet but I wanted something beyond that. His insight. I was enthralled by his words and poise at LGBT Pride Parade, Mumbai.
These are the answers I got(unedited version), sprinkled with his waggish and tongue-in-cheek humour.

Q1- Was it difficult for you to come out of the closet?
Nope.. I had imagined that it would get a little dramatic and I had also played the whole scene in my head. Me coming out and then my parent crying and being OTT KJo movie dramatic and the title track of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham playing in the background and my mom fainting and all such. But nothing of that sort happened. Ironically, considering I am such a drama queen myself. Parent accepted me openly. In fact, my parent now counsel and talk to the parent of other LGBT kids about acceptance and unconditional love for their children.

Q2- Any advice for the ones who still haven't gathered the courage to            accept who they are?
For those who haven't accepted who they are, they must know that the later they accept themselves wholly and completely is the day that they actually start living and stop just merely existing. One must accept oneself in order to achieve their goals and dreams.

Q3- The Best way to deal with people who think 'LGBT community is against       the law of nature'? ( This was asked to cure homophobia since                 unfortunately I often get into a heated argument with these species )
We shouldn't DEAL with them. We should feel bad for them. They are obviously living in the Stone Age.
If they say "OMG, how gay..", I am like "OMG, I know right..and you are so straight". And then, I am like "See how absurd that sounds?".
You won't introduce yourself to someone and say, "Hi! I am Sushant, I am gay". Just like straight people don't say, "Hi! I am John and I am straight." :P

Q4- Message to people who say gay or lesbian couple can't raise children as      well as straight couples can.
Gay and the Lesbian couple usually adopt children that straight couples abandon. So, that argument majorly doesn't make sense.

Q5- Are there any projects you are currently working on?
I can talk about a few projects and few others I cannot. I am in talks for 2 reality shows. I will be featuring in a web series. I am launching my own YouTube channel which will talk about generic fun stuff. And, I am currently the national producer for India for the Mr. Gay world pageant. The youngest national producer any country has had in the history of pageants. I will be travelling excessively in March and April (for the Mr. Gay World Competition).
And while we are at it. My mom wants to find me a husband :P.
(Did offer to help him with live show of Jeevan Saathi profiles :P).

Q6- Did you ever face any discrimination?
Yes, I face discrimination even today. There is a lot of subtle discrimination in any industry. There are people who will be extremely supportive and others who will be discriminatory. There are always two sides of the coin.

Q7- What is life like before and after being popular and after being               accepted for who you are?
Life was amazing before becoming famous maybe because I never stopped believing in myself which in due course translated into people loving me and accepting me the way I am and hence made me popular.

Q8- Your prized possession?
My Parent. The two priceless gems that I can't trade for ANYTHING.

Q9- Your role model?
My Parnt (Again). Sushmita Sen, Dalai Lama, Michelle Obama, Tyra Banks.

Q10- What do you think about love at first sight? Did that ever happen to          you?
Yes. Siddharth Malhotra, Adam Levine, Josh Hartnett, Bradley Cooper, it took my just one look to fall in love with all of these gorgeous men.
(So, yes even he had butterflies in his stomach )

Lastly, here's what he had to say to all those who adore him.
"To all my peeps out there, Just spread the joy of love and let there be no space for hate.

Thankyou Whatsapp and Sushant Divgikar for finally helping me post this.Date of Interview- Feb. 28, 2016
